1988 - In the news 25 years ago: Members of the Englewood Planning Commission were discussing several projects they had been working on, including the proposed false storefronts and a walking trail. State Planner David Rutherford said Englewood may be eligible to receive approximately $60,000 in funds for downtown rehabilitation from the Development District. The Planning Commission had proposed to restore the storefronts by refurbishing those that already existed. The plan would consist of applying wood trim to the existing windows and doors with the possibility of erecting awnings along the storefronts in Downtown Englewood.
