1988 - In the news 25 years ago: Beginning Nov.1, Meigs County residents would find it more affordable to reach out and call someone in the county\'s first district. All telephone calls from one area in Meigs County to another area in Meigs County would be toll-free as the result of a County Seat Program approved by the Tennessee Public Service Commission. Before the program went into effect, residents in the Eastview area with the telephone prefix 339 had to call Decatur long distance.
