1988 - In the news 25 years ago: With four graduates and several more inmates enrolling, the GED program in the McMinn County Jail was helping inmates get a different perspective on life. The program was designed by Help Adults Learn and had begun that last March with four inmate students, who had recently graduated, said Chief Deputy Joel Parham of McMinn County Sheriff\'s Department. Six more inmates were ready to begin the program. They first would be tested by Cleveland State Community College staff so counselors would know if their skill levels qualified them for the program.
