1988 - In the news 25 years ago: Niota Elementary School joined the ranks of four other county schools involved in the Adopt-A-School program when it was officially adopted by the Heil Corp. Along with Riceville, Calhoun, Mountain View and Englewood elementary schools, Niota Elementary became part of a school-corporation team. Jim Hoyal, McMinn County school superintendent, said of the adoption, \"I am particularly pleased to see the community support our schools are getting. For (Heil) to be directly involved with our school is a huge asset for us.\" He said Heil\'s concern and willingness to be a part of the school curriculum could be a valuable advantage.
