|THP effort results in 1,299 tickets, 96 arrests|
Tennessee State Troopers saturated roadways in Meigs and McMinn counties over the four-day Labor Day weekend in an attempt to get drunk drivers off the roads and make the roadways safer. In the two counties, troopers wrote an astonishing 1,299 tickets and arrested 96 people, including 21 who were cited for driving under the influence. Arrest charges ranged from DUI, public intoxication and driving on a revoked or suspended license to vehicle theft, an assault on an officer and numerous weapons charges.
